The bachelor of arts (BA) in Art History provides a humanistic foundation for understanding the visual arts, emphasizing the social, political, historical and religious contexts for studying art. Courses are offered in Western art from ancient to modern. If you pursue a BA in Art History, you will fulfill a foreign language requirement and have a minor, a second major, or a second degree.

Undergraduate Art History Scholarships

Up to three ($1000 each) competitive scholarships are now available to new art history majors, to be awarded on the basis of academic performance and commitment to the history of art. Students must apply within a year of declaring the major. The deadline is April 15. To apply, please turn in a paragraph no longer than 500 words explaining your interest in the major to the Coordinator of the Art History Program; for Spring 2013, to Prof. Wendy Katz, wkatz2@unl.edu.
