Program Features

BFA
The Sculpture area offers a range of studio courses in traditional and digital sculpture that focus on technical, conceptual and aesthetic aspects of the medium as well as theory, history, criticism and contemporary practice. These courses are designed to provide a foundation for independent artists who use sculpture as a medium of expression. As a studio art major with an emphasis in sculpture, you can take up to six regular courses in the area as well as special topics courses and independent study hours. Non- Art Majors can also take multiple sculpture classes but must meet the letter grade requirements to enroll in the successive course.

MFA
Our Sculpture MFA program offers top-tier, comprehensive facilities, equipment and resources that allow you to take your practice into the professional world. Our graduate students go on to become successful educators, exhibiting artists and artist-professionals around the world.

Inspiring, Comprehensive Facilities
The sculpture program, utilizing approximately 7,000 square feet of studio space, maintains an experimental approach while supporting traditional media. Equipped shops include wood, metals, foundry, plaster and new media. The goal of this program is to give you an atmosphere conducive to self-determination and intellectual growth.

On-Campus Sculpture Collection
The Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist Series brings six to eight nationally known artists to campus each semester. Visiting artists teach a lecture class, give a presentation and provide critique.
