From the vibrant and varied studio spaces and galleries of Richards Hall to the interdisciplinary digital labs and performance venues of the Woods Art Building, students have access to top-tier resources that inspire them to realize their artistic vision. Situated between Sheldon Museum of Art and the Lied Center for Performing Arts, the School of Art, Art History and Design forms the Arts Quadrangle on UNL’s campus, providing a rich, collaborative environment where creativity and imagination flourish.

Art Fabrication Space

The Art Fabrication Space provides tools and equipment to students which assist with almost every aspect of woodworking.

Ceramics Area

Located in Richards Hall, the ceramics facilities include an indoor electric kiln room, a covered outdoor kiln pad, a glaze mixing kitchen, a well-ventilated clay mixing room and an organized tool storage area.

Design Facilities

Graphic design facilities are equipped to train students in cutting-edge digital practices, ensuring that the tools they encounter in the workplace are tools they’ve already mastered.

Digital Lab

The Digital Lab is equipped with high-performing computers outfitted with Adobe Creative Suite, flatbed scanners, Wacom tablets, Apple iPads, large-format inkjet printers and photo/video equipment for checkout.

Painting and Drawing Facilities

Occupying 3 rooms on the main floor of Richards Hall, the two largest spaces include open truss ceilings with clerestory windows, ample storage and workspace, an adjacent spray booth and a variety of easels and additional work surfaces for exceptional opportunities to create.

Printmaking and Book Arts Facilities

Five large rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows, creating exceptionally well-lit and inviting workspaces. The shop includes rooms for etching, lithography, letterpress and book arts, with large worktables in each area.
