Lincoln, Neb.--The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s School of Art, Art History & Design will present the work of graduating undergraduate students in the upcoming Capstone Exhibitions in the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery.
The Graphic Design Capstone Exhibition will run Dec. 2-6 with a closing reception on Friday, Dec. 6 from 5-7 p.m. in the gallery. The Studio Art Capstone Exhibition will run Dec. 16-20 with a closing reception on Friday, Dec. 20 from 5-7 p.m. in the gallery.
This biannual experience is held at the end of the fall and spring semesters and presents the work of each semester’s graduating Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) seniors in studio art and graphic design as a culmination of their coursework and exploration.
Gallery hours for the exhibition are Monday-Thursday, noon-5 p.m. Admission to the gallery is free and open to the public.
A digital presentation of Capstone projects will also be available at http://unlcapstone.com. Viewers will find a page for each student that contains information on their personal research, as well as links to further information such as websites, social media handles, and more.
Istar Quintero, a studio art senior (photography), said the Capstone Exhibition has been a valuable experience.
“Capstone has helped challenge my viewpoint of artmaking and motivates me to approach my work professionally,” she said. “It is teaching me the skills I need to successfully navigate the art industry and the tedious administrative work that comes with being an artist, preparing me to take my practice to the next level.”
Megan Coffman, a studio art senior (drawing), is grateful for the opportunity to show her work in the exhibition.
“I’ve been making art my entire life, and I still can’t believe that I’ve come far enough to get the chance to show my works in this show,” she said. “I’m so grateful for this chance and hope people take the time to come see everyone’s works for the week it’s up.”
